Occupational Therapist (Rotational)

An opportunity has arisen for dynamic and enthusiastic Band 5 OccupationalTherapists to join our mixed rotation in Barnsley.

Barnsley is an attractive place to live and work situatedon the edge of the Peak District, with easy access to the cities of Sheffieldand Leeds.

You willwork within a multi professional teamand hold a varied caseload of patients providing therapy input.

Rotations are 6 months in duration and offer an excitingopportunity to develop clinical skills and knowledge within a wide variety ofclinical areas including:

Acute Mental Health

Neighbourhood RehabilitationService (including long term conditions and D2A)

Equipment and Adaptations

Neurology Rehabilitation

Stroke Rehabilitation

Memory Team

Childrens Therapy

Forensic Mental Health

A vehicle to undertake any necessary travel inconnection with the duties of the post is essential along with the ability towork flexibly including evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

Main duties of the job

As Band 5 OT you will:

Be expected to effectively manage acaseload of patients as an autonomous practitioner, using evidence based /patient centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluateinterventions of the patient group

Workalongside skilled clinicians in all areas working in partnership with otherprofessionals

Have accessto regular supervision, training & development opportunities, as well asbeing part of a pro-active Band 5 support group

Have high level communication and excellentinterpersonal skills

Job responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY

Thisjob description is an outline of the main duties of the post. The postholder will be required to undertakeother duties commensurate with the grade as directed.

The content of this post will be reviewed in consultation with thepostholder when necessary and in line with the service developments.

CORE DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES:

1. To manage a designated caseload using evidence based/client centredprinciples to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions, withsupervision.

2. To participate, or work as a member of the multi disciplinary, multiagency team, contributing to decisions with regard to client care.

3. To maintain accurate and up to date patient records and activity data.

4. To work to the trusts/Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Councils policiesand procedures in accordance with professional standards.

5. To participate in regular supervision and performance developmentreview.

6. To be responsible for maintaining own continued professionaldevelopment, in line with trust policy.

7. To assist in the organisation of training and supervision of preregistration Occupational Therapy students who are on planned and regularplacements.

8. To participate in clinical governance and risk management activity, asapplicable in the workplace.

9. Any other duties relevant to the grade of the post.

Person Specification


Personal Attributes

* A current driving licence and access to a car during the working day is essential (reasonable adjustments will be considered for any applicants who are unable to drive due to a disability).


Qualifications

* Diploma/Degree Occupational Therapy.
* Current HPC Registration or to be registered within 3 months from closing date.


Special Knowledge/Skills

* The ability to critically evaluate current evidence or research and apply to practice.
* The ability to reflect on practice, relating to a clinical intervention during training.
* The ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team/multi agency team.
* The ability to gather, assimilate and distil information.
* The ability to establish and maintain clear communication, both written and verbal, with others.
* The ability to manage time effectively.
* The ability to understand risk assessment
* An understanding of national guidelines and legislation relating to healthcare.
* Basic IT skills.


Physical Attributes

* Ability to undertake the duties and demands of the post. A satisfactory sickness record over the previous 2 years (subject to the need to act with fairness and equality of opportunity, particularly where the sickness is related to a disability and/or pregnancy).


Experience

* Placement experience in a hospital setting that demonstrates essential core Occupational Therapy skills.


Training

* Documented evidence of continued professional development.
