We have an exciting opportunity for a Fashion & Textiles Lecturer who is passionate about enhancing the profile and reputation of the subject and Falmouth University, both locally and globally. The role involves working with university leadership, academics, and senior colleagues to develop compelling content aligned with our 2030 strategy, supporting a vibrant curriculum embedded within the Integrated Foundation Year (IFY). Responsibilities include subject-specific module leadership, delivery across all stages of the IFY, and supporting students in building creative confidence, study skills, and autonomy. The role also involves personal tutoring and caring for students' well-being. All lecturers are expected to engage in research and innovation, developing an individual research plan aligned with our research programmes.
About You
You will hold a Master's degree in fashion and textiles with a proven track record in teaching and practice-led research. Up-to-date knowledge of current practices and research in fashion and textiles is essential, along with a passion for innovative and inclusive teaching pedagogy. We seek candidates with:
* Advanced knowledge of creative and professional practice in fashion and textiles, e.g., Fashion Design, Textile Design, Fashion Marketing, Photography, Styling, Art Direction, Costume Design
* Enthusiasm and competence in research and development skills such as drawing, sketching, ideation, and 2D to 3D processes
* Experience in implementing fashion and textiles and trans-disciplinary learning strategies at undergraduate level, with understanding of pedagogic principles from School to FE/HE; FE teaching experience is a plus
* Evidence of research-informed delivery
* Collaboration with industry partners, research networks, and learned societies
* Strong communication skills adaptable to different audiences
* Teamwork and problem-solving skills with an inclusive approach
