Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Training & Protocol Engineer to join the Clean Water, Water Distribution team at Yorkshire Water and be part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. Could this be you?
What we do
We provide essential water and wastewater services to every corner of the Yorkshire region, ensuring over 5.4 million people and visitors have clean and safe drinking water and that wastewater is treated appropriately. We are committed to protecting the environment and continuously improving our processes to deliver reliable, high-quality water services.
Water Distribution is a key part of meeting regulatory expectations and customer needs, managing the network of pipes, pumps, and treatment facilities to ensure a continuous flow of clean water.
Where you fit in
As our WQ Training & Protocol Engineer you will:
* Own and deliver WQ training courses and protocol documents for Water Distribution colleagues.
* Design, develop, and deliver WQ training packages aligned to Water Distribution operations (e.g., Calm Network, Discolouration Training, Water Quality Awareness).
* Create and deliver approved operational technical training to a set standard and assess delegates.
* Maintain the system of assessment from planning through to making, evidencing, and recording assessment.
* Own the Water Distribution critical protocol and procedures documents, reviewing, updating, and rolling them out cyclically.
* Develop new and amend existing protocols utilizing subject matter experts and stakeholders to ensure compliance with health & safety, regulatory, and performance requirements.
* Coach individuals or small groups around Water Distribution policies and procedures.
* Serve as the point of contact for Clean Water protocol understanding & Assurance across various parts of the business.
What skills & qualifications you will need
* A high level of knowledge of Water Quality processes and procedures in the Water Industry.
* Experience working in/knowledge of clean water network operations (e.g., calm network operation, Water Distribution protocols, water hydraulics, discolouration).
* Experience of training/assessing and developing people in the workplace or transferable skills/demonstrable aptitude.
* Ability to develop and maintain effective internal and external relationships.
* Experience of supporting and embedding change, able to influence and drive the right culture and behaviours.
* Excellent communicator who can articulate their knowledge and the course/assessment material to delegates.
* IT literate and competent user of Microsoft office products.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* A Full UK Driving Licence is essential as travel will be required to sites across the Yorkshire Water Network.
You will also benefit from having
* Previous experience in a commercially oriented and/or regulated environment.
* Previous experience gained within water sector or within the broader utilities, process, or manufacturing industry sectors.
* Level 3 Award in Education & Training, Cert Ed, or equivalent.
* Engineering/Scientific qualification or relevant experience.
