Salary: £14.00 – £17.00 per hour (Experience dependent)
Are you a proactive "handyperson" with experience in building maintenance or school site operations? We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Caretaker to join a friendly primary school just a short walk from Burnt Oak Station.
This role is available for an immediate start and is perfect for someone who takes pride in maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students and staff.
The Role
As the School Caretaker, you will be the backbone of the school's daily operations. Your responsibilities will include:
* General Maintenance: Carrying out reactive repairs, including basic plumbing, carpentry, and painting/decorating.
* Site Security: Managing the opening and closing of the school premises, including alarm setting and key-holding.
* Health & Safety: Conducting weekly fire alarm tests, water temperature checks (Legionella), and playground safety inspections.
* Porterage: Assisting with deliveries, moving furniture for assemblies, and ensuring the grounds are free of litter.
The Candidate
* Experience: Previous experience in a school setting is highly desirable, but we also welcome applications from those with a background in facilities management or the trades.
* Technical Skill: A good understanding of heating systems and general DIY is essential.
* Reliability: You must be dependable, as the school relies on you to ensure the site is open and safe every morning.
* DBS: Must hold a current Enhanced DBS (or be willing to process a new one immediately).
