An opportunity has arisento join the Make Ready management team - aligned to an operational sector and reporting to the Make Ready Delivery Manager you will manage the Make Ready Hubs.

This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop your management skills and experience. You will manage a team who need your support and guidance to deliver and improve their skills and knowledge. The role will allow you to plan and prioritise work, develop an in-depth understanding of this part of the LAS and build strong links with the wider organisation including Logistics and the Vehicle Resource Centre. Although sector based you will also work closely with Make Ready colleagues across the Trust.

Main duties of the job

Working full rotating shifts you will oversee the Make Ready Hubs in a sector ensuring delivery of clean, checked and restocked ambulances ready at start of shift for clinical staff.

In liaison with VRC you will plan vehicle movements and allocate work and staff accordingly.

People management is a significant part of the role and you will manage attendance, performance and conduct in accordance with Trust policies.

You will need to be confident in your ability to work with, communication with and deal with people and able to adjust your approach to differing needs.

You will need to be able to travel across the LAS region and so a driving licence is essential and able to work full rotating shifts.

Job responsibilities

* Supported by an assistant manager the post holder for this role will be responsible for leading and managing the teams who deliver the make ready service. They will oversee the delivery of effective, customer focused, and time critical services in support of front line clinical service throughout their respective sector footprint.
* They will lead the operational delivery of Make Ready within their respective sector making improvements, supporting staff, inputting to service redesign and supporting the application of the Trusts values and behaviours in line with policy.
* The post holder will work with supply chain colleagues within Strategic Assets and Property to ensure there is a fully joined up supply chain including the use of CAMS (central asset management system) including asset tracking.
* They will be responsible for staff attendance, welfare and behaviour managing these in accordance with Trust policies and procedures including e.g. the resolution framework.
* Together with their colleagues, they will be expected to provide a tactical contribution to Operational Delivery when on duty and so be accountable for Make Ready supporting delivery of patient care.
* Together with their colleagues, they will provide full 24/7 management cover providing operational oversight of all Make Ready Hubs including the management of supervisors, staffing levels and the meeting of Service Level Agreements in terms of both performance and quality.
* The post holder will be required to promote and develop key customer relationships.
* The post holder will develop plans to ensure that operational vehicles are checked, cleaned and stocked and are correctly located for start of shift in accordance with all standards and procedures, identifying where changes in practice might be required through reflection on action.
* The post holder will be responsible for managing performance data, interpreting it and developing robust plans were required to recover against shortfalls. They will be responsible for both undertaking internal audits and meet external audits requirements and develop, review and implement any action plans required.
* The post holder will be responsible for investigating complaints and incidents, managing Datix reporting and ensuring learning is a key outcome.


Person Specification


Qualifications

* Educated to degree level or has an appropriate vocational experience relevant to the role
* Postrgraduate education or specialist knowledge in people management, performance management, vehicle preparation or equivalent area
* Full driving licence including C1 categorisation


Experience

* Demonstrable experience of supervising and mentoring staff
* Experience dealing with organisational and staff performance issues with successful outcomes
* Management of a team with 1 year minimum experience
* Demonstrable experience of undertaking investigations
* Experience leading the implementation of business change and continuous improvement processes to address non-value added activities


Knowledge

* In depth knowledge of items used by the ambulance service and how this relates to operational delivery and quality patient care
* Ability to meet deadlines through prioritising conflicting demands and managing unpredictable work patterns
* Ability to maintain records and prepare audit reports
* The ability to successfully manage teams to deliver against standards whilst developing a motivated workforce

£47,810 to £54,710 a yearper annum inclusive of HCAS
