About the Role
The SAP Basis Administrator will be responsible for the installation, configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of SAP systems. The role ensures the availability, performance, and security of the SAP landscape, including sandpit, development, quality assurance, and production environments.
Key Responsibilities:
1. SAP Basis Administration
2. Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain SAP systems (ECC, BW, PI, Business Client, SAP SSO)
3. Perform SAP system copies, refreshes, and migrations.
4. Manage SAP kernel upgrades, patches, and support package stack implementations.
5. Configure and maintain SAP Transport Management System (TMS).
6. Schedule, monitor, and troubleshoot SAP background jobs.
7. Administer SAP profiles, parameters, and system tuning.
8. SAP HANA Database Administration
9. Install, configure, and maintain SAP HANA databases.
10. Monitor HANA system health, memory usage, and performance metrics.
11. Apply HANA revisions, patches, and support packages.
12. Configure and manage HANA system replication, backup, and disaster recovery.
13. Perform HANA database refreshes, restores, and recoveries.
14. Tune HANA database performance and handle growth capacity planning.
15. Linux System Management
16. Administer SUSE Linux servers hosting SAP applications and HANA databases
17. Perform OS-level troubleshooting, patching, and performance tuning
18. Manage file systems, disk space, and system logs
19. Automate tasks using shell scripting and cron jobs
20. Ensure OS-level security and compliance
21. Security & Compliance
22. Maintain and administer SAP user accounts, roles, and authorisations.
23. Implement SAP security best practices for Basis and HANA.
24. Ensure compliance with audit and governance policies.
25. Monitoring & Performance Management
26. Use SAP Solution Manager and other monitoring tools to track system performance.
27. Analyse dumps, logs, and performance traces (ST22, SM21, ST03, DBACOCKPIT, HANA Studio, SAP HANA Studio).
28. Troubleshoot SAP application, database, and interface issues.
29. Implement proactive measures to prevent system outages.
30. Backup, Recovery & Disaster Recovery
31. Schedule and verify SAP and HANA database backups.
32. Maintain documentation and procedures for recovery processes.
33. Test and maintain disaster recovery environments.
34. Project & Change Management
35. Participate in SAP system migrations and upgrades.
36. Support SAP system landscapes during implementation and go-live.
37. Collaborate with functional consultants, developers, and infrastructure teams.
38. Follow ITIL change management processes for all system changes.
Required skills, qualifications and experience
* Minimum 5 years' experience as a SAP Basis Administrator, with at least 2–3 years on SAP HANA.
* Strong knowledge of SAP NetWeaver and S/4HANA architecture.
* Hands-on experience with SAP HANA database administration and optimisation.
* Understanding of OS administration (Linux/Unix, Windows) for SAP environments.
* Familiarity with cloud platforms hosting SAP (AWS, Azure, GCP, or SAP BTP).
* Knowledge of backup/recovery tools and processes.
* SAP kernel and support package management.
* Transport Management System (TMS) configuration and troubleshooting.
* Performance tuning for SAP application and HANA DB.

Desirable / Preferred Qualifications:
* SAP Certified Technology Associate – SAP HANA.
* Experience with SAP Fiori, SAP Gateway, and SAP Web Dispatcher.
* Experience with SAP BusinessObjects.
* Experience with Oracle Patching
* Familiarity with automation tools (Ansible, Python scripting).
* Familiarity with non SAP systems such as Tableau, Oracle P6, Apriso and Opentext
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
* SAP system uptime and availability.
* Number of critical incidents and resolution times.
* Successful completion of upgrades/migrations within schedule.
* Compliance with security and audit requirements.
* Performance improvements in SAP and HANA systems.
