About the Role
We are seeking skilled Dari and Pashto Interpreters to support vital operations within a highly respected UK government department. This is an ad hoc, on-call role based in Whitehall, ideal for professionals who are flexible, culturally aware, and committed to accurate communication.
Key Responsibilities
* Interpret between Dari/Pashto and English with accuracy and cultural sensitivity
* Translate Afghan documents effectively for official use
* Listen actively and convey messages faithfully, maintaining neutrality
* Work closely with a team of interpreters to ensure service consistency
* Uphold the strictest confidentiality and data protection standards
* Take notes during complex discussions (as needed)
* Participate in training and stay current with language tools and trends
What We’re Looking For
* Fluency in Dari and Pashto (spoken and written)
* Strong understanding of Afghan cultural context
* Professional communication and active listening skills
* Familiarity with military terminology and Afghan military units (desirable)
* Ability to identify genuine formal documents
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office and willingness to learn client platforms
* Punctual, dependable, and professional in all engagements
* Experience in interpreting or translation work (preferred but not essential)
