Job overview

The post is based in the department of Infectious Diseases and Microbiology at Imperial College Healthcare NHS and will be available from March 2026 until the beginning of September 2026 and will be based at Hammersmith Hospital.

Main duties of the job

The role involves delivering high-quality care to infectious diseases inpatients and outpatients, actively participating in clinical duties, multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings, and contributing to departmental activities including teaching, audit, quality improvement, and academic seminars. The post-holder will work under the supervision of infectious diseases or microbiology consultants, alongside other medical staff, and is expected to maintain clear documentation and communication within the MDT. The position also offers opportunities to develop leadership, teaching, and communication skills while gaining experience in managing a broad range of infectious diseases.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

1. •Primary medical qualification
2. •Full GMC registration
3. •MRCP

Desirable criteria

4. •Diploma or Masters in a relevant subject

5. •Ability to work as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team
6. •Understanding of the principles of clinical governance
7. •Understanding and experience of audit projects
8. •Ability to critically appraised a paper

9. •Evidence of service audit
10. •Experience of junior team rota & annual leave coordination
11. •Evidence of academic training
12. •Training in research methodology

28. Clinical skills, experience and interest in Infectious diseases

30. At least 1 year experience of working in the NHS
