The Night Caretaker plays a critical role in maintaining building standards, monitoring compliance, and acting as a first point of contact for residents overnight, helping to create a safe, secure, and welcoming living environment that reflects Get Living’s commitment to exceptional service and community living. Shifts pattern - 3 days on and 3 days off, 19:00 hours to 07:00 hours. Key Relationships Internal: Neighbourhood Manager, Leatherhead site team, c entral office support teams. External: Residents, guests and third party suppliers and contractors Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities The overnight point of contact for residents, delivering a high standard of customer service, concierge-style support, and fostering a safe, welcoming environment. Engage positively with residents during night hours, offering assistance, resolving minor issues, and promoting a sense of community and care. As Fire Marshal, respond appropriately to alarms and emergencies, following procedures and supporting safe evacuation of residents if required. Conduct basic maintenance tasks, resolve issues promptly or escalate to the daytime team as needed. Maintain cleanliness and presentation across The Oakgate buildings by carrying out regular internal and external cleaning of communal areas, ensuring the estate remains clean, safe, and well-presented at all times. Undertake deep cleaning of apartments, shared spaces, and on-site offices as required, including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, dusting, and polishing all surfaces and finishes. Ensure daily cleaning of front entrances, doors, handrails, light fittings, paintwork, decorative features. Clean and inspect lifts thoroughly, including the floors, walls, mirrors, buttons, and fittings to maintain a high standard of presentation. Clean and inspect communal windows, ledges, skirting boards, stairways, corridors, and shared spaces, ensuring consistently high standards. Conduct daily inspections of communal areas to identify and report issues such as lighting faults, damage, cleanliness concerns, or safety risks. Operate and maintain cleaning equipment, including industrial vacuum cleaners for both hard and carpeted flooring. Complete specialist cleaning tasks including washing walls, doors, woodwork, partitions, and windows using appropriate reach-and-wash equipment. Clean and maintain soft furnishings including rugs, carpets, and upholstered furniture using supplied and approved cleaning equipment and products. Perform additional floor care as required, including scrubbing, waxing, and polishing. Manage and maintain cleaning supplies, consumables, and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels and proper use and storage. Comply with COSHH regulations when handling cleaning chemicals, ensuring appropriate PPE is worn, hazards are reported, and required training is completed. Support a safe and compliant working environment by following all Health & Safety policies, reporting hazards, and participating in any required training. Qualifications & Experience Experience of working in a residential setting COSHH Training Customer Service experience Basic maintenance skills Operation of commercial cleaning equipment Key Skills & Competencies High level of attention to detail Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, in order to interact with residents clearly and professionally.
