Overview
The Environment Agency is seeking an experienced investigator to join the National Investigations Team as a Senior Environmental Crime Officer. This role involves leading investigations into serious environmental crimes, coordinating lines of enquiry, reviewing intelligence, allocating actions, coordinating evidence gathering and interviews, and preparing case files for prosecution. You will work alongside Senior Investigation Managers and the Major Incident Room to drive high-profile investigations, including cases involving Organised Crime Groups, illegal waste exports, and large-scale fraud. The team is part of the National Environmental Crime Unit within the National Regulation and Monitoring Team.

Responsibilities
* Lead on serious and complex environmental crime investigations, coordinating all aspects from lines of enquiry to case file preparation and prosecution.
* Collaborate with Senior Investigation Managers and the Major Incident Room to manage investigations and develop the team.
* Identify investigative lines of enquiry, review intelligence, raise and allocate actions, coordinate evidence gathering and interviews.
* Contribute to investigations involving Organised Crime Groups, illegal waste exports, and fraud, and adapt to varied and complex scenarios.
Qualifications and Experience
* High level of attention to detail with a strong investigative background.
* In-depth knowledge of investigative legislation such as PACE and CPIA; excellent verbal and written skills; basic IT competence (Word, Excel, Teams).
* Knowledge of environmental crime, leading major investigations, and workings of a Major Incident Room desirable.
* Experience in building and developing investigation teams; self-motivation, initiative, and problem-solving abilities.
* Successful completion of SC and NPPV2 Vetting processes (to be obtained within 6 months) and a full driving licence.
