The Waste Strategy and Improvement team works with our in-house waste operations (domestic and commercial). We improve the Council’s operational services and support business as usual activity. We focus on supporting, developing and delivering initiatives that improve council operations, cost efficiency and deliver performance improvements in nationally reported KPI’s. We also develop and deliver income generation programmes. An opportunity has arisen to work with the Commercial Waste & Recycling Officer to provide critical administration for our Commercial Waste service.

Job Profile
We're looking for a candidate with great communication and customer management skills with operational service delivery experience. They should have an understanding of waste management and an awareness of equality and diversity, and how it may impact on a customers ability to access information and services. You should also hold a minimum of GCSE Maths and English (Grade A-C) or equivalent.
This role will cover a range of tasks including
* Responding to customer queries
* Checking operative jobs and entering relevant details onto our Salesforce and Bartec based systems
* Identifying customer requirements and administering contracts
* Supporting supervisors with crew records and other related administration
* Processing invoices and sales orders using our Business World finance system
* Providing general administrative support to a range of services including Fleets, Waste Operations and Street Cleaning
The successful candidate will gain benefit from flexible working hours and the local government pension scheme.
Interviews will take place at Woking Road Depot, GU1 1QE between Monday 18th May and Thursday 21st May.
This role is office based at Woking Road Depot, GU1 1QE. All functions at this depot, including this role, will be moving to a newly developed depot on Slyfield Industrial Estate during late 2026.
