Senior Engineer – Site Engineering Authority

Location: Barrow-in-Furness – 5 days per week. (Weekly travel to other local sites within 2 mile radius)

Salary: £42,215 + depending on experience

Job Description:

In this role, you will work with internal stakeholders, including site engineering, plant maintenance, and shipyard teams, as well as external contractors and specialists. You will ensure full asset lifecycles through validation, modification control and criticality assessment. You will confirm through review, surveillance and audit that engineering assumptions, data, and methodologies are fully validated. You will support functional design, qualification, acceptance, and safety evidence, while ensuring regulatory and legislative compliance. You will liaise effectively with stakeholders, provide accurate project status updates, implement recovery actions, and contribute to assurance that designs are robust and safety‐case compliant.

Core duties:

* Validate assets against performance and compliance requirements
* Coordinate and document all asset modifications
* Create and review Through Life Management Plans
* Assess asset criticality for risk and prioritisation
* Manage assets across their full lifecycle

Essential Skills:

* HNC minimum or equivalent, with progression toward a degree in an engineering discipline
* Experience in asset management or a related engineering environment
* Awareness of Health & Safety requirements and safe working practice

The Site Engineering Authority Area E (External Area's):

A growing team of seven, expanding to ten, responsible for ensuring building services and asset compliance across 20+ external sites. You'll work in a fast‐paced, dynamic environment supporting major projects, including proposed land acquisitions and large‐scale development activities. We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
