Job overview
The post holder will support the Lead Homecare Pharmacist and the Lead Pharmacist of Medicines Formulary and High‑Cost Drugs to deliver a safe, high‑quality pharmacy homecare service in line with national standards and policies. They will manage and coordinate day‑to‑day homecare operations, act as a key contact between the Trust, homecare providers, pharmacists, clinical teams and suppliers, contribute to service improvement, support staff training and medicines optimisation.
Responsibilities
* Support and work closely with the Lead Homecare Pharmacist to deliver a safe, high‑quality pharmacy homecare service.
* Manage and coordinate day‑to‑day homecare operations, including staff supervision, workload organisation, resolving medication/service issues, and maintaining high patient care standards.
* Act as a key contact between the Trust, homecare providers, pharmacists, clinical teams, suppliers and patients, handling queries and supporting communication across services.
* Contribute to service improvement through developing procedures, monitoring KPIs, handling complaints/incidents, producing reports, and participating in audits, reviews and meetings.
* Support staff training, recruitment and development, and assist with medication coordination, ordering and accuracy checking to ensure timely patient treatment.
* Support medicines optimisation by carrying out audits, producing reports and participating in service review to improve patient care and efficiency.
Qualifications
* NVQ3, BTEC or equivalent in pharmaceutical science.
* Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
* Accreditation for checking prescriptions.
Skills
* Ability to analyse and resolve highly complex situations and provide expert advice when required.
* Good interpersonal skills, confident and assertive when working with other professionals, able to work quickly, calmly and accurately under pressure.
* Ability to develop, train, lead and motivate a team.
* Capability to develop new innovations for pharmacy/homecare‑related services, high‑cost and formulary.
* IT literacy.
Experience
* Experience in writing and implementing departmental SOPs.
* Experience working within homecare services or high‑cost drugs.
* Experience of day‑to‑day management of staff, prioritising, coordinating and planning workload.
* Experience undertaking audits and developing action plans.
Benefits
* Salary: £39,959 – £48,117 per annum.
* Full time, 37.5 hours per week, permanent contract.
