Overview
As an Engineering Officer, you’ll be the leading expert behind Army engineering projects worldwide. You could plan, lead and manage demolitions, set up water supplies, build runways, clear mines or advise friendly forces on terrain and capabilities. After your Sandhurst training, you’ll do the six‑month Troop Commanders course, learn about reconnaissance, engineering advice and managing people and equipment. You can also take the Para or Commando Course to serve with those regiments.
Responsibilities
Plan, lead, and manage engineering projects, including demolitions, water supply setups, runway construction, mine clearance, and terrain and capability advisory for friendly forces.
Qualifications
Age between 17 years 9 months and 28 years 11 months. Must have 72 UCAS points and 35 ALIS points at GCSE, including at least grade C/4 in English, Maths, and a science/foreign language. Pass a basic fitness test.

Entry‑level Officer start with world‑class training at Sandhurst. This develops transferable leadership skills and qualifications. Continue learning and growth as an Officer, leading expeditions, operating abroad, or delivering humanitarian aid.
Salary & Benefits
Salary during training: £34,676, rising to £41,456 upon completion of basic trade training. 38 days of annual leave plus bank holidays and extra leave after operations. Free medical and dental care, cheaper living costs, free gym and sports facilities. Work hours normally 8:30 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday, unless on operations or training exercises.
