Overview
We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Nuclear Operations Director to join the team and play a pivotal role in shaping and driving the operational success of our nuclear projects. The role is based at our Lostock, Bolton office with national travel to sites.
Responsibilities
* Lead the day-to-day operations of assigned nuclear projects, from inception through to final account
* Drive strategic delivery across drawing office, projects, manufacturing, and construction to the highest standards
* Ensure all financial targets are achieved, including revenue, cost control, and profit margins (budget management in excess of £50m)
* Embed a culture of continual improvement across operational measures and client service
* Maintain rigorous compliance with all statutory, legal, and licensing requirements, including Health & Safety
* Build and motivate high-performing operational delivery teams, ensuring robust HR, training, and development processes are in place
* Develop and manage strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and supply chains, ensuring effective communication and expectation management
* Set up new projects, forming operational delivery teams and selection of supply chains, and operational structures, ensuring successful project execution
* Champion a strong safety culture across all projects and processes
Key Skills & Experience
We are looking for a senior leader with exceptional nuclear and project delivery expertise, ideally gained within structural steel or major infrastructure. You will bring commercial acumen, operational excellence, and the ability to deliver high-value, complex projects in highly regulated environment
Essential experience and qualifications
* Significant experience working on Nuclear Licensed Sites (licensee-side experience desirable)
* A degree in a technical or project management discipline (Chartered Engineer or CIOB desirable)
* Proven commercial and budget management experience, including projects of £50m
* At least 10 years’ experience in structural steel, with exposure to major, complex project
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire, motivate, and develop multidisciplinary teams
* A track record of maintaining client satisfaction and driving operational improvement
