Job Role: Deputy Manager

Accountable to: Registered Manager

Location: Your primary place of work will be at our Doncaster Children's Home. From time to time, travel to Head Office or other children's homes may be required and is expected as part of your senior role within the organisation

Hours of Employment: Full time – 40 hours per week, including shift work and admin, plus on call duties as required to meet the needs of the home, on call is paid at the prevailing rate.

Job Summary:

Are you Senior Residential Care Worker who is thinking about taking a role with more responsibility? Or are you already an experienced Residential Care Worker who is looking to progress their career further? We are currently looking for a dedicated and child-centred Deputy Manager for our beautiful home in Doncaster. You will work closely with the appointed Registered Manager, to train and develop the staff team and prepare the home for the OFSTED registration visit.

You will be fully supported throughout by the Registered Manager, as well as having support from the Responsible Individual and an experienced Registered Manager.

If you do not hold the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, then we will enrol you onto the qualification as soon as you commence your employment with us.

Our Children's Residential Service is a relatively new arm to the Safe Haven Group; however, we have been operating since 2013 and have a proven track record with the Local Authorities we serve, in providing care and support to young people and vulnerable adults.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Management and Leadership:

To support and deputise in the Registered Manager absence to:

· Provide strong leadership and supervision to all staff members.

· Promote teamwork and professional development and foster a creative and collaborative team culture in the pursuit of high-quality child centred care,

· Ensure staff adherence to policies, procedures, and ethical guidelines.

2. Operations and Compliance:

To support and deputise in the Registered Manager absence to:

· Oversee the daily operations of the home, including safety, maintenance, and resource allocation.

· Ensure strict adherence to Ofsted regulations and compliance with relevant legislation and quality standards.

· Collaborate with regulatory bodies during inspections and audits, ensuring all requirements are met.

3. Resident Support and Welfare:

To support and deputise in the Registered Managers absence to:

· Ensure the well-being, safety, and positive development of young people

· Oversee case management processes, including assessments, support plans, and progress monitoring.

· Address critical incidents and provide crisis intervention as needed.

· To actively seek to build strong relationships with our young people and promote the development and maintenance of positive relationships as an important life skill

4. Staff Development:

To support and deputise in the Registered Manager absence to:

· Identify training needs and provide or facilitate training and professional development opportunities for staff.

· Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.

· Manage staffing levels, recruitment, and scheduling to ensure adequate coverage.

5. Quality Assurance:

To support and deputise in the Registered Manager absence to:

· To work closely with the quality director and their team to ensure systems and processes are embedded across the service.

· Implement and monitor quality assurance systems to track and improve service delivery.

· Evaluate program effectiveness and recommend improvements to enhance young people outcomes.

· Support in regulation 44 visits and lead on these visits in the absence of the manager, ensuring that you can critically analyse feedback given and take action on any recommendations given where these are time specific

6. Financial Management:

To support and deputise in the Registered Manager absence to:

· Manage the homes budget, including expenditure tracking and financial reporting.

· Ensure efficient resource allocation and cost-effective operations.

7. Community Engagement:

To support and deputise in the Registered Manager absence to:

· Build and maintain positive relationships with community organisations, government agencies, and other stakeholders.

· Represent the organisation at meetings, participate in networking events, and collaborate on community initiatives.

As the Deputy Manager, you play a critical role in ensuring the safety, well-being, and development of our Young People while adhering to strict regulatory requirements. This leadership position requires strong organisational skills, the ability to handle complex situations, and a dedication to making a positive impact on the lives of young individuals facing adversity.

Qualifications/Experience/Skills/Person Specification:

· A level 5 diploma Leadership & management or the ability to work towards.

· A Level 3 in children's residential, or ability to work towards, where the level 5 has previously been gained without the diploma 3 being completed

· Experience as a senior/team leader or deputy manager within a children's home or supported accommodation setting

· Strong understanding of Ofsted regulations and compliance requirements.

· Leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.

· Knowledge of local resources and support services for young people.

· Familiarity with trauma-informed care principles.

· Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

· Empathy, patience, and a commitment to the welfare of young residents.
