The work of Kent Libraries, Registration & Archives (LRA) service is highly rewarding. Customer Service Officers (CSOs) lead front-line teams in Kent's town centre and branch libraries, ensuring customer needs are met and daily operations are maintained to high standards.
The CSO role is diverse, involving supervising library services, managing staff, handling customer inquiries, and conducting birth and death registrations. This role requires sensitivity, accuracy, and a thorough understanding of legal requirements for record-keeping.
The ideal candidate will be a strong people manager, resilient in handling operational challenges, and enjoy engaging with a wide range of people.
The role offers extensive development opportunities within Libraries, Registration & Archives, and other parts of KCC. We provide various training courses to enhance skills and support career progression.
Working hours are 37 per week, including Saturdays, with potential lone working and occasional assignments at other locations within the Dartford Library district.

This position is customer-facing, and under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016), applicants must demonstrate sufficient spoken English for effective job performance, as outlined in the Job Description/Person Specification.
The role is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure via the Disclosure and Barring Service.
Applicants who have previously applied for Customer Service Officer roles in the past 6 months and were unsuccessful need not reapply.
Interview dates are scheduled for the week beginning 22nd July 2024. Birth Registration Training will be held from 16th to 18th September 2024.
