We are recruiting for an Operations Manager to provide strategic leadership for our Reactor Physics and Thermal Hydraulics Team. You'll be responsible for leading a team of engineers and specialists in the delivery of solutions to key clients championing innovation where possible. In this role you will build strong value-add relationships with key clients, providing solutions to meet their needs and challenges, maintaining high levels of delivery performance, client satisfaction, pipeline & forecasting management, managing team performance, facilitating team capability skills development and actively driving recruitment.
Growth will also be a key focus area to support a growing client base and maximise the securing of opportunities in current and new growth markets.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
1. Team leadership focused on the care, wellbeing, personal development and career development of our staff aligned to Amentum core values and expectations.
2. Responsible for the day to day management of the Energy Rector Physics and Thermal Hydraulics team with the assistance of teams leaders. The team is located across a number of offices with Gloucester and Knutsford being the main hubs.
3. Responsible for managing performance and development, fostering a positive work environment through actions like setting goals, providing feedback, recruiting, performance reviews and setting team compensation.
4. Developing and growing strong, highly value adding client relationships through privileged positions and interfaces linked to existing framework agreements.
5. Building relationships within Amentum to deliver value adding solutions to our clients and to enhance delivery.
6. Proactive, client intelligence lead business development and account management including the tracking of prospects pipelines.
7. Identifying new opportunities and collaborating with other stakeholders to realise benefits.
8. Championing innovation, value and efficiency to help different Amentum offerings as the best value solutions for clients.
9. Working collaboratively with framework partners and other suppliers where it provides the best value solution for clients.
10. Ensure excellent project execution, meeting or beating the delivery commitments made.
11. Ensuring that all work undertaken complies with the H&S, Quality and Governance requirements of the business.
12. Ability to work remotely whilst successfully achieving deliverable based outcomes through a virtual team.
13. Producing the financial forecasts for the delivery area and ensuring that the forecasts are accurate and up to date.
14. Identification of improvements and drive initiatives to enhance the aims of the business and project performance to ensure maximised benefits and value-added outcomes.
15. Ensuring the incorporation of ‘best practice’ into project / task delivery.
16. Coordination of resourcing/recruitment needs, and leading with candidate interviews, candidate selection and approval process.
17. Ensuring that all operations are transparent, ethical, effective, efficient and in line with the Amentum vision, mission and strategic goals, with appropriate governance in line with company policy.
18. Embedding sustainability in solutions and project delivery.
Here's What You'll Need
19. Physics or thermal hydraulics discipline specific knowledge and experience.
20. Degree or equivalent qualification/experience in a relevant technical or business discipline.
21. Awareness of the operating culture and regulatory environment within the nuclear industry.
22. Experience of delivery in a highly regulated sector.
23. Delivery of innovative technological solutions.
24. Leadership, collaboration and team working skills.
25. People focus, both internally to inspire our people and externally to listen to client needs and provide focused solutions.
26. Degree or equivalent qualification/experience in a relevant technical or business discipline.
27. Ability to think strategically and clearly define, communicate and deliver a business strategy.
28. Experience of business development and the production of winning bids for the provision of successful technical services and consultancy that comply with corporate governance.
29. Good understanding of financial and commercial aspects of operations management.
30. Able to communicate effectively and develop relationships with at all levels of the business and external organisation with a clear focus on collaboration and growth.
31. Experience of managing/oversight of high performing projects and project delivery.
