Damper Technology Ltd is a leading global provider of flow control and isolation damper valves; specializing in complex and bespoke high-temperature dampers for critical applications. With a commitment to innovation and excellence, we cater for many diverse industries including Power Generation, Carbon Capture, Oil & Gas and Marine.
We now have a position open for a proactive and commercially astute Engineering Buyer at our head office in Eastwood, Nottingham, UK. This is a key position in ensuring the cost-effective and timely sourcing of components, raw materials, and services to support our engineering and manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Source and purchase materials, engineered components, parts, packaged equipment, services and logistics in line with project requirements and company procurement strategy.
* Build and maintain relationships with new and existing suppliers to ensure consistent supply and competitive pricing.
* Interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications to procure the correct items.
* Negotiate pricing, lead times, and terms of business.
* Create BOM s, raise purchase orders and maintain accurate records in the ERP system (SAP Business One).
* Work closely with engineering, production, and project teams to meet delivery schedules.
* Monitor supplier performance and manage quality or delivery issues as required.
* Support cost-reduction and continuous improvement initiatives across the supply chain.
Key Requirements
* Proven experience in a purchasing/procurement role within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
* Ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications.
* Strong negotiation and communication skills.
* Familiarity with MRP/ERP systems SAP Business One experience desirable.
* Organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.
* A level 3 Engineering qualification (ONC min).
* CIPS qualification (or working towards) is an advantage.
* Full Clean UK driving license.
Conditions
Work location will be at our Head Office in Eastwood, Nottingham (UK), with some occasional domestic and international travel.
