A hands on role working with a dedicated and innovative R&D team from product concept to launch. Working with co-manufacturers, including from within the global Rich network, to deliver NPD and EPD projects on time to the highest possible standards for our customers. This is an all encompassing role managing the development of all allocated projects through the Rich Products STM process, from creating the NPD project brief through to a successful launch to market.
• Working with marketing and sales teams to agree new product plan by channel / customer
• Create NPD briefs detailing the scope of requirements to provide to the co-manufacturers
• Plan, manage and deliver new product development projects through co-manufacturers from concept to launch, meeting project deadlines
• Design to value as well as customer requirements
• Understand complexity of recipe and assembly as it relates to the manufacturing process as well as the impact to the cost structure of the overall product
• Develop packaging solutions in parallel with recipe
• Interpretation and delivery of customer brief to agreed target costs
• Ability to understand and deliver to the target customer and end consumer needs
• Track global food and flavour trends to provide creative recommendations to fill the innovation pipeline
• Preparation of product costings, ingredient and nutrition declarations
• Working with the category team to understand market trends and be able to translate new product propositions into viable products for our customers
• Managing the co-manufacture through the NPD and approval process of scaling up concept samples to factory validation trials
• Ensure the completion of shelf life testing and the appropriate organoleptic testing over life
• Completion of customer submission forms and managing other product related requests for information
• Leverage co-manufacturer innovation and manage IP accordingly, seeking every opportunity to own the IP from the outset
• Work with Procurement to source and validate new co-manufacturers
• Present new product concepts internally and to customers that includes the creation of inspiring culinary solutions to best showcase the concepts
• Work closely with the Technical Sales Manager to ensure that the developed product solutions meets key customer culinary requirements
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
Critical
• Degree educated or equivalent in a food disciple. With a minimum of 4-5 years experience within a food manufacturing environment
• Experience of managing the NPD process from concept to launch
• Bakery development experience
• Working with third party co-manufacturers to deliver NPD
