Job overview
Part-time / 0.6 FTE.
Outwood Academy Brumby is proud that it is rated Good by Ofsted. We are based in the friendly North Lincolnshire town of Scunthorpe with easy access to stunning countryside. We are a thriving secondary academy committed to providing exceptional education and opportunities for all of our students. The Academy is part of Outwood Grange Academies Trust, which believes that every student can achieve beyond what they thought possible.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and qualified Dance Teacher to join our P.E Department to cover a period of maternity leave. This is an exciting opportunity to inspire young people through the art of dance and contribute to our vibrant school community.
As a Trust, we recognise the value of the arts in offering students the opportunity to develop their creativity, self-expression, technical skills and confidence through creation and performance. We offer a full suite of Arts qualifications across the Trust, and a number of our academies deliver the Tech Award in Performing Arts (dance), achieving results above the national average at all measures. Dance is a growth subject within our Trust despite dropping numbers nationally. Our team work collaboratively, with Trust support from a dedicated Trust Strategic Lead in Secondary Arts as well as a Trust Dance Development post holder who offers guidance on curriculum, delivery and assessment. This ensures that teachers in single-person departments are still integrated into a team where they can be inspired to generate new ideas and continually develop their practice. We also stage an annual Trust Dance Showcase at Cast in Doncaster, where the exceptional quality of our Dance provision is celebrated. Here is a link to our 2025 event:

We are proud that Outwood Academy Brumby is rated Good with Outstanding leadership by Ofsted and we are based in the friendly, North Lincolnshire town of Scunthorpe with easy access to the stunning countryside. The Academy became part of the Outwood Family of Schools in 2012 and has been transformed beyond recognition, having formerly been in Special Measures.
We provide every opportunity for children to be successful and pride ourselves on the outcomes they achieve and we were delighted that after its latest visit, Ofsted noted that staff at the academy 'understand the needs and interests of pupils well,' and highlighted that 'pupils say that staff are supportive.'
We believe our success speaks for itself as we are above the national average for the number of students achieving a Grade 5 or above in English and maths GCSEs.
As we strive to become Outstanding, help to take us to the next level.
The Outwood Family of Schools pride ourselves on fully supporting colleagues within the Family both professionally and personally.
We work hard to ensure we reduce workload on staff, allowing more time in the classroom to put our vision of students first, raising standards and transforming lives into practice.
As a founding Trust of the National Institute of Education (NIoT), we will actively invest in your future through working closely with the Outwood Institute of Education and NIoT to offer access to a wide range of CPD opportunities, with all teaching staff receiving a minimum of two hours of CPD each week.
We also offer a generous employment package with a whole host of staff benefits, including family friendly policies, enhanced occupational benefits available (such as maternity, adoption and parental leave) with no qualifying period, funded CPD for qualifications up to and including Masters level plus other exclusive benefits including a partnership with car leasing company, Synergy.
All academies within the Outwood Family have gained the IQM Inclusive Schools Award with 18 having Centre of Excellence status and one holding Flagship status.
If you share our vision, join our family.
