Job Overview

We are recruiting a Lead Art Psychotherapist to work within our Inpatient Rehabilitation Services. This service is currently provided within 2 units in Treorci, Rhondda. The service focusses on assisting recovery for people with long standing and complex mental health problems. The new post holder will lead on the delivery of art psychotherapy within this service, and will work alongside a multidisciplinary team, including other psychological professionals.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

Work as a high-level clinician, providing Specialist Arts Psychotherapy assessments and treatment to adults with a range of psychological and emotional disorders in mental health rehabilitation services.

Provide expertise in all aspects of Arts Psychotherapy to patients, carers and significant others.

Contribute to the provision of the Psychological Therapy Services within adult mental health rehabilitation services.

Work as part of the multidisciplinary team, carrying a caseload of patients.

Receive regular supervision in line with Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board (CTMUHB) policies and be responsible for management of own caseload and ensuring high standards of care are maintained in line with CTMUHB policies and professional codes of practice.

Provide supervision and consultancy to other mental health professionals and be involved in the development of Psychological Therapy provision within the locality as appropriate.

Provide supervision for Art Psychotherapy trainees on placement from the University of South Wales, and maintain placement relationships with the university.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

* Masters Level training and education in Art Psychotherapy
* HCPC Registration as Art Psychotherapist
* Knowledge of a range of Art Psychotherapy evidence based interventions.
* Awareness of research processes and research governance.
* Awareness of other therapeutic approaches and application
* Awareness of Safeguarding Principles. Awareness of Data Protection legislation and participant confidentiality issues.
* Able to demonstrate knowledge of e.g. NICE Guidelines and NHS Government strategies.

Desirable criteria

* Membership of the British Association of Art Therapists.
* Additional training in alternative therapeutic approaches e.g. DBT/ACT/CBT.
* Other qualifications within the field of psychology

Experience

Essential criteria

* Experience of working with adults in a mental health setting
* Experience of group facilitation
* Experience of managing competing demands, within time constraints.
* Experiencing of undertaking risk assessments.

Desirable criteria

* Experience of taking part in research projects with service users and staff
* Experience of completing safeguarding processes within clinical work

Aptitude and Abilities

Essential criteria

* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to convey complex information.
* Organisational and time management skills
* IT skills.
* Ability to negotiate with, and influence staff who are not managed within the team
* Ability to work independently, and as part of a team

Desirable criteria

* Ability to speak Welsh
* Presentation skills
* Able to facilitate reflective practice to wider multi-disciplinary team colleagues.
