Food Technician - Role Overview (Brent)
As a Food Technician, you will support the smooth running of the Food Technology department and help teachers deliver engaging, safe, and well-organised practical lessons. Your duties will include:
1. Preparing ingredients, equipment, and resources for practical food lessons.
2. Ensuring food is stored, handled, and prepared safely in line with hygiene regulations.
3. Setting up and clearing away workstations before and after lessons.
4. Maintaining and cleaning kitchen equipment, appliances, and utensils.
5. Monitoring stock, ordering supplies, and managing the department's inventory.
6. Supporting students during practical cooking sessions, ensuring safety and correct use of equipment.
7. Helping teachers with demonstrations and classroom organisation.
8. Managing food waste appropriately and maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
9. Assisting with general administrative tasks required by the Food Technology department.
Requirements
10. A relevant qualification or strong interest in Food Technology, hospitality, or nutrition.
11. Good understanding of food hygiene and safe kitchen practices.
12. Strong organisational and practical skills.
13. Excellent communication and a supportive, proactive approach.
14. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
15. Previous experience in a similar role or in a school environment is desirable but not essential.
