ROLE OVERVIEW //
We are recruiting for a Legal Project Management Coordinator to join the Legal Project Management team.
The Legal Project Management Co-ordinator will work closely with the Legal Project Management team, partners, associates and business services teams including Business Development, Executive Assistants, the Billing & Costs Team and Financial Reporting.
The role of the Legal Project Management Co-ordinator is to provide a first-rate client service in supporting the Legal Project Management team with matter delivery including scoping, planning, managing tasks, financial reporting and managing third parties. The Legal Project Management Co-ordinator will ensure that Slaughter and May’s best practices are consistently embedded in everything we do and that our client’s requirements are incorporated, meaning our client’s expectations are met and, where possible, exceeded.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES //
The key responsibilities of this role are set out below and there may be others which are not listed. You may be required on occasion to work outside our normal working hours of 9:30am to 5:30pm.
* Supporting our Legal Project Managers on matters helping to drive the delivery of the matter in the most efficient manner, challenging and considering alternative methods of delivery to achieve this. Ensuring the client is at the forefront of everything we do.
* Assisting with the set up and maintenance of legal project management tools and processes on matters, be it at the beginning of a matter or assisting with a particular workstream on a matter part way through. Working with the team to drive, influence, embed and support them with these tools and processes.
* Supporting the Legal Project Management team with internal projects on an ad hoc basis.
* Taking responsibility for and driving forward internal projects of their own with the support of the Legal Project Management team.
* The level and nature of the work will vary and includes:
* Assisting on pitches and client presentations where input from the Legal Project Management team is required
* Supporting the team with scoping matters, creating financial estimates/reports (including third party fees), assisting with resourcing considerations, engaging third parties and considering any technology that could be utilised
* Managing and tracking progress of the matter throughout the lifecycle providing guidance and oversight on scope, financials, planning, resourcing and ensuring there is continuous focus on creating efficiencies and value add considerations throughout
* Reviewing matters at sensible checkpoints throughout its cycle including assisting the Legal Project Management team with matter debriefs
* Supporting the Legal Project Management team deliver training to help instil the Slaughter and May approach to Legal Project Management.
* Responsibility for maintaining the Legal Project Management OneNet Site and Toolkit ensuring the team are engaged on required changes and obtaining in advance any required approval for those changes
* Achieving measurable success including providing a first-rate client service to our internal and external clients, adding value (be it financial or other), creating cost savings and having excellent levels of engagement with all teams.
* Identifying and supporting opportunities for collaboration and other cross-team initiatives between the Commercial Team, Financial Reporting Team, Billing Team and other Business services. This will include facilitating cross-team discussions of items of interest and reporting back to your team.
* Being a trusted advisor on Legal Project Management within the team and the firm.
* Promoting the Legal Project Management offering and best practice across the Firm
CANDIDATE PROFILE //
Candidates for this position must have:
* Experience of working in a law firm with senior stakeholders.
* A focused, organised and motivated individual who pays acute attention to detail, can work well under pressure, is able to time manage and multi-task and who takes responsibility for and pride in their performance.
* A confident and professional style with strong communication skills (both written and oral), the ability to influence, listen, adapt their communication style as required and show diplomacy and tact.
* Able to shape, communicate and promote best practice standards in Legal Project Management.
* The ability to challenge and make recommendations based on well-reasoned commercial arguments.
* Highly competent with law firm financial reporting including managing and creating reports, and monitoring, reporting on, analysing and providing well-reasoned advice on the same.
* The ability to absorb, digest, understand and share new information.
* A strong academic background is preferable.
* An individual who is keen to work to their full potential and continuously learn.
* A team player, who encourages and promotes collaborative working within the team and with all other teams across the firm.
