Reporting to: Site R&D Manager
Location: Melton Mowbray, full-time on-site
Salary range: £31,000 - £37,500 (dependin gon the level of experience), annual bonus, benefits
There is an exciting opportunity to join the site R&D team in Melton Mowbray as a Packaging Technologist. The purpose of this role is to develop and deploy packaging initiatives that support core brand growth, efficiency, and innovation for Mars Petcare.
What are we looking for?
A BS or advanced degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Food Science, or a related technical field
2+ years' experience working on packaging projects
Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and with external suppliers
What will be your key responsibilities?
Execute and deliver on a range of packaging development & implementation projects that will lead to continuous improvement in product design and performance
Execute and deliver on projects designed to optimize business costs, while adhering to agreed standards of Quality and Food safety
Manage site packaging specifications in line with MPE design principles and standards
Support technical risk assessments on changes to packaging, and ensure that all risks are effectively managed
Manage the implementation of new packaging on site according to the Mars Packaging Quality Management (PQM) standard using relevant system tools
Contribute to the definition of minimum standards and critical success factors (CSFs) as part of the Handover 1 and 2 processes for defined packaging implementation projects in collaboration with other site R&D team members, MPE Hub R&D, and local cross-functional teams
Collate and manage packaging data, ensuring that our packaging conforms to standards, and that exceptions are effectively escalated and managed
Work on Level 2 troubleshooting activities in partnership with other functions to ensure the successful resolution of packaging issues
Contribute to Product Related Incident Management Process (PRIMP) teams as required
Input into local and European Activity Task Groups (ATGs), providing risk assessment and technical support as required
Actively participate in regional technical communities to promote the effective sharing of knowledge and experience across the MPE network and central teams
