Teaching Assistant for Autism Support – Maidenhead – ASAP Start
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with Autism?
We are looking for a compassionate, dedicated, and experienced Teaching Assistant to join a resource base team at a lovely school in Maidenhead. This is a fantastic opportunity to support children, including those who are non-verbal, in their educational journey.
Key Responsibilities of a Teaching Assistant (Autism Support):
* Provide 1:1 and small group support to children with Autism, both verbal and non-verbal, in a resource base setting.
* Assist with classroom activities, ensuring students engage in a positive and inclusive learning environment.
* Use personalized strategies to support communication, behaviour, and emotional regulation for children with Autism.
* Collaborate with the class teacher, SEN team, and external professionals to deliver tailored support plans.
* Promote social skills, self-esteem, and independence for students.
Essential Criteria:
* Experience working with children with Autism in a school or professional setting.
* Knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorder and support strategies.
* Patience, empathy, and a calm, adaptable approach.
* Strong communication skills; ability to use alternative communication methods (PECS, Makaton, etc.) is a bonus.
* Team player, collaborative and eager to learn.
Desirable Criteria:
* Experience supporting non-verbal children with Autism.
* Relevant qualification in SEN or equivalent experience.
* Training in Autism-specific interventions (e.g., ABA, TEACCH).
