Hours: 37 hours (all year round) – working on the 8am to 6pm shift pattern

About the role
As a nursery assistant based in one of our Little Owls nurseries you will be part of a great team and will deliver a high standard of care which meets the individual needs of the children. It is rewarding work, as well as energetic and at times challenging.
You will
* Provide high quality care and education for all children and support for families
* Observe and monitor children’s development and contribute to reports of their progress
* Liaise with and provide professional advice to parents, social workers and health visitors
About you
We are looking for qualified, enthusiastic, adaptable candidates with personal qualities to care for and develop young children. You must have:
* Excellent communication and listening skills
* Ability to safeguard and motivate children and sustain their interest in play activities
* Ability to write reports and plans to document children’s learning, development and wellbeing to the required standard
Experience and qualifications

* Good standard of literacy and numeracy
* Basic computer literacy

Job Description
Job purpose: Under the direction of the Manager and senior staff, the Nursery Assistant works as part of a team to deliver high-quality care meeting the individual needs of children, building positive relationships and ensuring safety and wellbeing.
All staff support the service’s aim to enable children to develop socially, educationally and emotionally, promoting a customer-focused attitude and a culture of openness and trust. The role requires flexible working and collaboration with other service areas and organisations to maintain a safe, secure and learning environment.
Responsibilities
* Provide high quality care and education for all children and support for families
* Deliver a broad Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum meeting national and local standards
* Establish and deliver Individual Educational Programmes (IEPs) and Early Support Programme for SEND
* Observe and monitor development and contribute to written progress reports
* Maintain client confidentiality
* Liaise with parents, social workers and health visitors; prepare reports for school transitions
* Ensure health and safety, report injuries/accidents, and administer medications per policies
* Support safeguarding procedures and follow Local Safeguarding guidelines
* Support student placements with accurate reporting
* Organise educational visits with risk assessments
* Assist families in admissions and transitions
* Participate in training and development to maintain up-to-date knowledge
* Undertake other duties as required and comply with council policies
* Promote equality and work anti-oppressively
Qualifications and experience
* Minimum Level 2 childcare qualification
* Paediatric First Aid, or commitment to obtain within 3 months
* GCSE Maths and English or equivalent; commitment to achieve within 2 years
* Knowledge of EYFS, safeguarding, safeguarding policies and statutory guidance
* Experience of working with children and families; nursery environment; teamwork
