Overview of the Role
Government mandates that all apprenticeships include an end-point assessment (EPA), which evaluates the Knowledge, Skills, and Behaviours (KSBs) acquired during the apprenticeship. Pearson ensures assessments are consistent and uphold high standards, confirming apprentices are job-ready.
An independent EPA means assessors have no conflict of interest with the apprentices or training providers, maintaining objectivity in competency decisions. Assessments can be conducted onsite or remotely, with outcomes recorded and justified for grading decisions, all subject to quality assurance.
Key Responsibilities
* Participate in ongoing training and standardisation activities.
* Maintain evidence of continuous professional development (CPD).
* Assess candidate performance according to published criteria, ensuring standardization.
* Adhere to Pearson’s assessment protocols and quality assurance procedures.
* Respond to EPA planning, operational activities, and report assessments outcomes.
* Report risks, issues, and suspected malpractice.
* Ensure high-quality, accurate assessment records and reports.
* Support Pearson with appeals, if necessary.
* Account for travel time in assessment scheduling.
* Declare conflicts of interest and uphold assessment independence.
* Complete personal and administrative actions as required.
* Contribute to the continuous improvement of assessment activities and quality assurance.
Person Specification
Occupational Profile
Senior Healthcare Support Workers assist registered practitioners, performing clinical and non-clinical tasks within their competence, across various healthcare settings, acting as role models and supervising less experienced staff, following the Code of Conduct.
Mental Health Support
Support individuals with mental health conditions, providing emotional support, developing care plans, and encouraging independence, often working with families, carers, and other organizations.
Essential Background and Experience
* Occupational competence in mental health support.
* Registered healthcare professional or Level 5 apprenticeship/regulatory qualification.
* Working towards or hold a formal assessor qualification.
* Recent healthcare experience (within last 2 years).
* Experience in leading meetings and complying with quality standards.
* Commitment to CPD and recent occupational experience.
Additional Requirements
* UK residency for candidates.
* Availability of at least two days per week for EPA activities.
Desirable Experience and Skills
* Internal quality assurance qualification.
* Experience in grading judgments and recent DBS clearance.
* Knowledge of safeguarding and prevention.
Skills & Knowledge
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Understanding of individual needs and sector knowledge.
* Ability to assess impartially, report risks, and meet deadlines.
