School Outreach Worker Huddersfield (Agency Role)
Location: Huddersfield, West Yorkshire
Salary: Negotiable (depending on experience)
Contract Type: Full-Time, Temporary (with potential for long-term placement)
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm
Are you passionate about supporting young people who face barriers to education? We are recruiting a School Outreach Worker to work across PRUs and SEND schools in Huddersfield, supporting students who are currently unable to access mainstream education.
Role Overview
This role involves working 1:1 with pupils who may be experiencing:
* Social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges
* Anxiety, school phobia, or trauma
* Medical or social factors affecting attendance
You’ll deliver tailored academic and pastoral support in homes, community settings, or off‑site hubs, helping students re‑engage with learning and build confidence.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver individualised learning and wellbeing support
* Build trusting relationships with students and families
* Monitor progress, attendance, and engagement
* Liaise with schools, social workers, and external agencies
* Support transitions back into education or onward destinations
Requirements
* Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or additional needs
* Ability to work independently and adapt to varied environments
* Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential)
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain)
* Strong communication and organisational skills
