At AO Recycling, we’re a friendly team on a mission to do good for the planet. We run one of the UK’s most advanced recycling sites for old electricals (WEEE) and are committed to safety, responsibility, and high standards. As a SHEQ Officer, you’ll be a valued part of the team, helping us stay on top of safety, health, environmental, and quality standards. It’s a hands-on role where you’ll work closely with different teams to encourage a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and doing the right thing. Your support will help keep our people, our planet, and our processes running at their best.
Responsibilities
* Maintain and promote safety, health, environmental, and quality standards across the site.
* Provide practical support and coaching to teams to improve SHEQ performance.
* Ensure compliance with UK SHE legislation and regulatory frameworks.
* Monitor and improve SHEQ management systems, including ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001 standards.
* Support incident investigations and audits; participate as a Lead Auditor where applicable.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive a culture of continuous improvement.
Qualifications
* Hold or be working towards NEBOSH Diploma for Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent (essential).
* Professional qualification in Environmental Management (e.g. IEMA, NEBOSH Environmental, or equivalent) (desirable).
* Membership of relevant professional bodies (IOSH, IEMA, CIWM, etc.).
* Minimum 5 years’ experience in a SHEQ role, ideally within recycling, manufacturing, or logistics.
* In-depth knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001 standards.
* Auditor or Lead Auditor qualification (desirable).
* Strong understanding of UK SHE legislation and regulatory frameworks.
* Excellent communication, coaching, and influencing skills.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office and SHEQ management systems.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
