Your new role
As Facilities Manager, you will lead the strategic planning and operational oversight of the school’s estate, facilities contracts, and support services. Reporting to the Finance and Resources Manager, you’ll ensure fullpliance with health and safety legislation, manage capital works and improvement programmes, and align facilities strategy with the School Improvement Plan.You’ll supervise two staff members and delegate day-to-day site operations to the Site Manager, while maintaining responsibility for contractor management, catering oversight, sustainability targets, and risk mitigation. Your leadership will ensure the school’s physical environment supports teaching, learning, inclusion, and wellbeing.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Ensuringpliance with health and safety legislation, including the Fire Safety Order and Control of Asbestos Regulations.
2. Managing facilities budgets and procurement in line with financial regulations and the Procurement Act 2023.
3. Overseeing planned preventative maintenance and capital improvement projects.
4. Driving sustainability and carbon reduction initiatives.
5. Supervising contractor and catering operations to meet statutory standards.
6. Supporting staff development and succession planning within the facilities team.
What you'll need to succeed
We’re looking for a proactive and emotionally resilient leader with:
7. Proven experience in facilities and health & safety management, ideally within an educational setting.
8. Strong planning, organisational, andmunication skills.
9. A minimum of GCSE Grade A*–C (or equivalent) in English and Maths; a degree and relevant H&S accreditation (, IOSH, NEBOSH) are desirable.
10. A solid understanding of UK GDPR, safeguarding, and business continuity.
11. The ability to manage budgets, deliver training, and maintain accuratepliance records.
12. A collaborative mindset and the ability to thrive both independently and as part of a team.
What you'll get in return
