Overview
Test Technician role at AMETEK in Sunbury-On-Thames. The role supports the testing, troubleshooting, and validation of electro-mechanical systems and components, inspects and tests finished products to ensure quality and accuracy, and sets up and operates test equipment and mechanical fixtures. Documents test results, anomalies, and corrective actions in accordance with quality standards.
Responsibilities
* To perform functional, environmental, and performance testing on electro-mechanical assemblies and systems.
* Set up and operate test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, and mechanical fixtures.
* Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and test procedures to ensure accurate test execution.
* Document test results, anomalies, and corrective actions in accordance with quality standards.
* Assist in root cause analysis and troubleshooting of failed units.
* Support engineering teams in prototype testing and validation.
* Maintain and calibrate test equipment and ensure compliance with safety standards.
* Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to testing processes and documentation.
* Provide information or help required to customers, suppliers and visitors from other companies within our group of companies who tour the factory floors, and may examine parts or watch staff carry out their work; effective communication at all levels is expected.
* Participate in Continuous Improvement and 5S activities that affect quality or output of the product.
* Where PPE (personal protective equipment) is provided, you will be required to use it.
* Carry out all activities in a timely manner to help achieve manufacturing targets.
* Take on ad hoc duties, including training colleagues in line with local skills matrix and brief secondment to other departments.
Other Responsibilities
* Undertake training identified as a requirement of the role as identified by the role manager.
* Undertake all other reasonable requests from the role manager/acting manager or Directors.
* Be flexible to provide support outside normal tasks during reduced department staffing to ensure customer satisfaction.
Professional Knowledge & Experience
* HNC/HND or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
* 2+ years of experience in a test technician or similar role.
* Proficiency in using electrical and mechanical test equipment.
* Strong understanding of safety procedures and quality standards (e.g., ISO, IPC).
* Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and schematics.
* Able to read and understand drawings and/or CMMs and/or SOPs.
* Able to read, write and understand English.
* Attention to detail.
