Senior Social Worker | 9991 | Permanent Contract | 37 hours per week | £43,822 to £48,227 per annum | Grade K | County Hall
We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for a fulltime Senior Social Worker to join the Adoption and Kinship Support Team based at County Hall.
You'll be part of a large, multidisciplinary team committed to improving outcomes for adopted and kinship children and their families.
We are looking for someone with considerable post‑qualification experience and strong knowledge of adoption and kinship work, including the impact of developmental trauma. As a Senior Social Worker, you will provide guidance to colleagues, lead on emerging projects, show initiative in daily practice, and demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional development to support the children and families you work with.
This post has a particular focus on young people aged 16+ and their families. The role includes developing and delivering groups and activities for this age group, including a monthly evening youth group.
Main Responsibilities
* Work with the most complex adopted young people (particularly 16+) and their families to complete assessments and develop multi‑agency support plans. Support the management of risks and needs related to adoption and help young people transition to services such as housing, youth/adult mental health, and Adult Social Care (including the Preparing for Adult Life Team). Review plans to ensure they deliver positive long‑term outcomes.
* Work with previously looked after children (particularly 16+) now subject to Child Arrangement Orders, Residency Orders, or Special Guardianship Orders. Complete assessments for complex cases and develop support plans with key professionals, supporting transitions to relevant services. Work closely with the Kinship Assessment Team to advise on the development of Kinship Support Plans.
* Work with young people who wish to gain a better understanding of their early life experiences and journey into local authority care. Deliver life story work and support appropriate contact with birth family members.
Before you apply, we recommend reading the full Job Description and Person Specification to help you demonstrate you meet the criteria.
