About the recipient
The recipient is a happy, outgoing, and affable young person (age 18) that lives near Driffield. They require a dedicated and suitable person to support them due to having developmental delays caused by a form of Cerebral Palsy which effects speech and cognitive development. They are very personable and sociable. They enjoy hair & beauty, shopping, watching Netflix, going for walks, bike rides, day trips and anything sociable. They need someone to support with promoting independence and support to learn daily living tasks.
About the role
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
1. Assisting the individual with accessing activities and spending time out in the community.
2. Assisted meal preparation and helping guide the recipient on some domestic tasks.
3. Prompting the individual with medication
4. Assisting with personal care when necessary
5. Helping the individual with financial budgeting and handling of money when away from the home
6. Attending/transporting the individual to social activities and appointments.
7. Encouraging social interaction and inclusion and providing emotional support.
About the candidate
The suitable candidate must:
8. Be trustworthy, proactive and able to work on their own initiative.
9. Be patient, caring and understanding.
10. Have good, clear effective communication skills.
11. Be able to build a positive relationship with the individual to both encourage and support them.
12. Have previous experience caring for an individual with additional needs (preferred).
13. Be somewhat flexible to accommodate the hours of work where necessary.
14. Be a team player and able to work effectively alongside another carer if required
15. Must have use of own car, to transport individual to social activities and appointments.
DBS/Reference checks will be required for this post Cost to be met by the local authority.
