Job Overview
Our Connectors operation in Leeds, AL is looking for an Associate Manufacturing Engineer to support our 2nd Shift operations. This hands-on, shop floor-based engineering role provides production and maintenance support. You will oversee and troubleshoot daily manufacturing processes, aiming for continuous improvement in areas such as scrap reduction and productivity increases while minimizing costs. This position supports both Foundry and Secondary operations, including processes like CNC and manual machining, fabrication equipment, mechanical and hydraulic presses, robots, core machines, furnaces, and molding machines.
A Day In The Life
* Use lean engineering tools to design and optimize manufacturing processes for existing products and new introductions.
* Develop and manage scrap reduction initiatives.
* Create standard work instructions and document process changes.
* Examine materials and products at various stages to ensure they meet specifications.
* Monitor machines and equipment for malfunctions and collaborate with maintenance to troubleshoot issues.
* Develop and implement plans to improve equipment OEE.
* Lead continuous improvement initiatives like kaizen events to reduce costs.
* Participate in or lead capital improvement projects.
* Implement and update Value Stream Maps.
* Stay informed about current manufacturing trends and technologies at national and international levels.
What Will Help You Thrive in This Role?
* Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.
* Experience in a manufacturing or process engineering support role is helpful.
* Experience with continuous improvement and lean methodologies in manufacturing.
* Knowledge of manufacturing equipment controls, monitors, and processes.
* Understanding of fabrication, presses, and machining equipment.
* Knowledge of tooling.
