Salary from £33,200 with up to 10% Annual Bonus and Single Healthcare
Permanent
Closing Date: 5th March 2026

Purpose
Join ScottishPower as a Trainee Craft Trainer and become part of our Technical Training team. Our structured development programme is designed to grow the next generation of Craft Trainers across Cable Jointing, Electrical Fitting and Overhead Line construction and repair.

The programme typically lasts three years, though candidates with relevant operational experience may complete it in two. Throughout your journey, you'll receive formal training and mentoring to build the practical, technical and instructional skills needed to deliver high‑quality craft training across ScottishPower and our service partners.

Responsibilities
As you progress through the programme, you will become increasingly confident and capable in delivering training elements independently, once signed off by your mentor.

Achieving TAQA accreditation and developing strong training delivery, presentation and behavioural skills, you will build your deep technical competence across Cable Jointing, Electrical Fitting and Overhead Line work.

Working closely with SP Energy Networks Standards and Health & Safety Compliance teams to ensure training reflects the latest procedures, tooling, equipment and documentation, you will ensure all Health & Safety policies and legislative requirements are met within your training delivery.

Supporting the management and procurement of tools, equipment and training materials within agreed budgets, you will accurately update reporting tools to reflect weekly training activity, ultimately taking ownership of delivering craft training and producing supporting training materials.

What you'll bring
To succeed in this role, you'll need an Electrical/Mechanical qualification, Craft Apprenticeship, or possess equivalent technical training.

With practical experience working with hand tools, experience in Cable Jointing, Electrical Fitting or Overhead Lines (highly beneficial), you will possess a sound understanding of Health, Safety & Environmental principles and how they apply in a workplace setting.

Being confident at working at heights, is desirable but not essential to support training delivery. You will have the ability to explain complex technical information clearly to different audiences.

Requiring strong time‑management skills and the ability to balance varied training responsibilities, you will possess experience contributing to team performance, including mentoring or supporting new colleagues.

A small 15-minute presentation will be required as part of the interview process.

A full, valid driving licence is required.

Whats in it for you
As well as a competitive salary which is reviewed annually, you can also enjoy several other benefits. With our pension scheme, we'll double match your contribution up to a company contribution of 10%.
