Job Description:
MCS Group is delighted to be working with a Large Public Sector Employer in County Antrim to find an Environmental Health Officer to join their team. This role offers a 4-day working week, a competitive salary, and the opportunity to secure a longer contract. Location: Ballymena. Contract Length: 9 months with a likelihood of extension. Salary: £38.5k (Pro-rata).
The Role:
1. Conduct inspections, investigations, assessments, and activities across various environmental health functions, including public health, food safety, and housing.
2. Take enforcement actions in line with legislation, including serving notices and preparing legal documentation.
3. Act as an expert witness and provide advice and reports for legal, planning, and public health matters.
4. Collaborate with external agencies, businesses, and working groups to support environmental health goals.
5. Participate in planning reviews, public consultations, health campaigns, and reactive monitoring, including out-of-hours responses.
6. Maintain knowledge of relevant legislation, support training, and carry out administrative duties.
The Person:
* Minimum of a degree in Environmental Health or equivalent experience.
* Membership of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health.
* At least 1 year of experience in a public sector role.
* Knowledge of current Environmental Health legislation.
* Stakeholder engagement skills.
* Full driving license and access to transport.
