Paediatric Continence Health Care Assistant

The Bladder and Bowel service offers specialistadvice support and treatment to children, young people and adults living withinthe North East Lincolnshire area.

The serviceaims to provide timely specialist assessment and treatment of children withcomplex continence problems, ensuring when required, that the most appropriateproducts are prescribed to manage their bladder and bowel symptoms. The serviceprovides continence education and training and acts as a resource on mattersrelating to continence.

Main duties of the job

Job title: Paediatric Continence Health Care Assistant

Department: Continence Service

Base: Val Waterhouse Centre, Grimsby

Hours: 20 hours per week, permanent

Salary Range 2 £24,100 (pay award pending) pro rata perannum fixed salary point

The post holder will:

Work part of the Bladder and Bowel Care teamdelivering level 1 bladder and bowel assessments and carrying out a range ofclinical duties with minimal or no supervision delivering an holistic approach.

To carry out an assessment for incontinence products without supervisionand provide education and support on how to use the recommended products topatients and their carers according to their care plan.

To undertake and successfully complete all trainingwithin the competencies that are relevant to the care of patients.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* QCF Level 3 in Health and Social Care
* Level 2 qualification in Numeracy and Literacy or equivalent level of competence.


Experience

* Experience working with children and ability to demonstrate good understanding of continence issues in children
* Experience of multi-disciplinary team working
* Experience of working with children


Knowledge & Skills

* Effective and proven computer skills
* Ability to work on their own and as part of a wider team
* An awareness of own competencies and willingness to seek guidance where needed
* Ability to maintain clear and accurate records both electronically and in writing, to deadlines
* Ability to communicate clearly and sensitively with people who have a wide range of healthcare needs
* Ability to maintain confidentiality
* Ability to demonstrate empathy and sensitivity
* Ability to deal effectively with confrontational situations
* Knowledge of SystmOne clinical system
* Knowledge of paediatric continence needs in the community and Primary Care
* To have clinical skills in bowel/bladder care


Other

* Ability to travel to multiple sites
* Ability to transport self and equipment around the area and to deadlines
* Ability to work flexible hours
* Able to demonstrate commitment to Care Plus Group core values
