3 Month Contract With A local Authority
Job Purpose:
To manage and coordinate Education, Health and Care (EHC) needs assessments and plans for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), ensuring statutory compliance and positive outcomes for families. The SEND Caseworker acts as a key point of contact for parents/carers, schools, and professionals involved in the EHC process.
Key Responsibilities:
* Coordinate and manage the statutory EHC needs assessment process from referral to final plan, in line with the Children and Families Act 2014.
* Draft, review, and amend Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) to ensure they are person-centred, legally compliant, and outcome-focused.
* Act as the lead professional for a designated caseload of children and young people with SEND.
* Liaise with parents/carers, schools, educational psychologists, health and social care professionals to gather advice and coordinate services.
* Attend and contribute to multi-agency meetings, Annual Reviews, and tribunals where necessary.
* Maintain accurate, up-to-date case records in line with GDPR and local authority procedures.
* Support effective transition planning for children and young people moving between key stages or settings.
* Provide clear advice and guidance to families and professionals on SEND processes, legislation, and local policies.
* Monitor and review the progress and provision for children and young people with EHCPs to ensure needs are being met.
* Contribute to continuous improvement of SEND services through feedback, collaboration, and innovation.
Requirements
* Experience of working in an educational, health, social care, or local authority setting with children/young people with SEND.
* Knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice, Children and Families Act 2014, and related legislation.
* Strong case management and organisational skills.
* Excellent written and verbal communication, including report writing.
* Ability to build positive relationships with families, professionals, and schools.
* Competent in using ICT systems, including case management and Microsoft Office software.
