We have an exciting opportunity for a RICS commercial surveyor, ideally with post qualification experience, to join our Commercial Valuations team based in Winchester. Due to the nature of the role, we encourage applications from recently qualified to Associate level. The role will have a particular focus on providing valuations for loan security purposes to all major banks. The post will suit someone looking for a new career challenge and with the desire to build client relations while ensuring the delivery of excellent service to all our clients. Whilst being a registered Valuer would be beneficial; this role will provide you with the support and training to build your knowledge as well as interests across commercial valuations.
Our Winchester based valuations team cover the whole of Central Southern England and work as part of a national team covering England and Wales, and value within most sectors; industrial, retail, office, educational, leisure (although not trading) and residential; for loan security (vacant possession, development and investment), acquisition or disposal, tax and financial reporting purposes.

Main tasks:
1. Work within the existing valuation team in Winchester, providing valuations for loan security (vacant possession and investment), internal decision-making purposes, tax and financial reporting purposes.
2. Carry out inspections, calculating floor and site areas, comparable research, demographic and economic research, planning and statutory enquiries, company trading analysis, lease reading and summarising, development / option agreement reading and reviewing, preparation of valuations / development appraisals
3. Contribution to the growth of the business by identifying new business opportunities across the Commercial valuation sector.
4. Assist in the delivery of major projects.
5. Financial and client reporting.
6. Delivery of valuation reports in accordance with client instructions and RICS Valuation Standards.
7. Participation in the ongoing development and implementation of an effective profit centre business plan developed in-line with the Carter Jonas vision.
8. Take an active role in the development and implementation of efficient, ‘best practice’ internal systems and processes, optimising IT and other resources.
9. Contributing to the development of the junior members of the team

What will it take to be successful?
You will be a qualified chartered surveyor (ideally also a registered valuer, though not essential), with post qualification experience across commercial property. It would be beneficial if you also have exposure to commercial valuations and/or residential valuations. You will have good working knowledge of relevant legislation and will ideally have a strong understanding of the local market to be able to identify new opportunities to grow the business further. You will be ambitious and keen to develop your career as part of a specialised team, focussing on commercial valuations generally. Travel will be required in this role, and a driving licence is essential.
