From our network of international offices, we work in partnership with our clients to deliver sustainable solutions to manage the historic environment - above ground, below ground and underwater. We are committed to our social impact. This means using the knowledge and connections we make through our commercial activities as a catalyst to engage the communities in which we work.

Join us and you’ll be part of a collaborative team committed to shaping a better future for our staff, the sector and the world. As well as having knowledgeable and dedicated colleagues, you’ll have an opportunity to access a variety of fascinating and high-profile projects and develop your skills and knowledge along the way.

The role – what’s involved?

We are looking for an experienced geophysicist with a background in commercial archaeology to join our Geoservices Team. This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive, organised individual with an interest in project management to work on some of the most exciting, large-scale infrastructure projects happening across the UK today. You'll be a strong communicator who enjoys liaising with multiple stakeholders and inspiring your team to achieve a standard they can be proud of. We are looking for someone who enjoys passing on their knowledge and skills to others, as part of your role will include mentoring junior staff members.

You’ll have a sound understanding of health, safety and wellbeing policies and a firm commitment to safe working practices. As well as managing surveys, you’ll play a key part in successful communication with colleagues and stakeholders. With strong project management skills and the ability to prioritise your workload, you’ll endeavour to provide a high-quality service to our clients.

Main responsibilities will include:

* To be responsible for the delivery and management of a comprehensive range of geophysical surveys (gradiometer, resistivity, GPR, EM, ERT) across the UK.
* To aid in design of surveys and preparation of tender documents.
* To mentor and support junior members of staff within the team.
* Tolead within the team on company initiatives with respect to training, innovation, and education.
* To ensure the preparation of client reports is carried out to a high standard and in accordance with relevant legislation, planning policy, and current national guidance.
* Educated to at least degree level in an appropriate subject or to hold demonstrable experience to an equivalent level and ideally a post-graduate qualification in Geophysics or a related discipline.
* Extensive experience of commercial practice.
* Have experience working routinely and effectively with clients, contractors, suppliers, planners, curators, and other professionals.
* A comprehensive understanding of all aspects of health & safety associated with fieldwork.
* Excellent attention to detail with experience of providing quality assurance and editing of project deliverables.
* Technically astute and have experience in tendering, design, planning, management, and delivery of complex projects.
* Knowledge of project management systems, or at least a fundamental understanding of the principles of project management.
* Have membership of an appropriate accredited professional body and have a full UK Driving Licence.

What can you look forward to?

Our focus is on creating a collaborative culture where people can thrive, develop and where safety and wellbeing come first. From anonymising candidate data in our recruitment process to continuous improvements in our benefits, we’re committed to creating a safe, fair and inclusive working environment.

* Option to buy up to 5 days holiday per year.
* Salary Sacrifice Pension Scheme, Wessex Archaeology employer pension contribution 6.5%.
