Offer description

Kingswood

It is an exciting time for Kingswood Secondary Academy. We are privileged to serve one of the most deprived communities in Northamptonshire, yet our fantastic students are now in the top third of Northamptonshire schools in terms of their academic outcomes. Contextually, this places our students in the top five secondary schools, out of 42, in the county. If you’d like to find out more about how we and our students work together to achieve this, and you are a hardworking individual who enjoys being part of a team, then see the details below about coming in for a ‘Walk and Talk’.

At Kingswood, we know that most teachers have come into the profession to make a difference in the lives of young people, and not for the money! The staff and Kingswood make an incredible difference in the lives of the young people in our care. Based on our RISE values of Respect, Independence, Service to Community and Empathy, we have carefully cultivated a culture that is conducive to learning, where teachers can enjoy teaching and students can thrive and learn well. Lessons are settled and very purposeful; corridors are calm, and students get on well with each other during social times. Staff turnover is very low, and staff attendance is very high. If you feel this is the environment where you can make a difference, then come and see for yourself with one of our Walk and Talks.

The role

We are looking for an energetic and hardworking Teacher of Music to start in January 2026. This is a part-time role for 19.5 hours per week. We are interested in talking to both experienced colleagues looking for a new challenge and early career teachers. Our ideal candidate will have a passionate and uncompromising commitment to pupil achievement and be a believer in the potential of all young people. The entire EPA/PE team are committed to the pursuit of excellence and are team players with a strong desire to work collaboratively. The faculty comprises 12 members of teaching staff, from members of SLT to colleagues who are in the early stages of their careers. We pride ourselves on the excellent support we give to not only our students but each other, too, and we are keen to find like-minded colleagues to join this collegiate team and who would further support our students’ ongoing success.

Outcomes in EPA/PE are strong and improving.

ITT potential

Furthermore, we run a very successful Initial Teacher Training programme. For the right candidate who holds a relevant degree, we are happy to explore the potential of you joining us to complete your ITT and develop into a fantastic teacher with us.

Our Walk & Talk invitation to you

We warmly welcome potential candidates to come on what we refer to as a ‘Walk and Talk’. This usually takes less than an hour and can be during the academy day or after school has finished. We find this provides a great opportunity for candidates to get a really good insight into Kingswood prior to submitting an application. Please email jlawson@kingswoodsecondaryacademy.org (Senior Deputy Principal) if you would like to come in for a ‘Walk and Talk’.

Apply as early as you are able

We encourage early applications. When we feel we have strong applicants, we tend to call to interview early.
