About this Role

We are seeking to appoint an experienced and enthusiastic Head of Technology to lead our Technology Department. The ideal candidate will teach Technology, Art and 3D Design.

The School’s latest Ofsted inspection in November 2023 rated Nicholas Breakspear Catholic School as Outstanding. The most recent Catholic Schools Inspectorate Section 48 Inspection in March 2023 also rated the school as Outstanding. Nicholas Breakspear is a vibrant, nurturing and ambitious school located on the outskirts of St Albans with large spacious grounds and close links to London.

This role provides an excellent opportunity for someone who values inclusivity and kindness and who can help pupils flourish and grow in confidence. The 2024 GCSE results place the school in the top 7% of schools nationally.

We are proud members of the Diocese of Westminster Academy Trust (DOWAT). We work with other schools in the trust to share best practice and promote the development of staff and students. DOWAT is recognised as being in the top 3% of academy trusts in the country. We are fully committed to providing equal opportunities for all employees, workers, job applicants and pupils, and to eliminating unlawful and unfair discrimination, fostering a diverse culture and promoting merit-based reward.

As a Catholic school, we emphasise gospel values of Truth, Justice, Peace and Love. Pupils receive an exemplary education, are deeply cared for by all staff and are noted for their politeness, kindness, confidence and thoughtfulness. Academic and everyday life expectations are very high, and pupils excel because they value the teaching and support they receive.

All staff will be required to have an enhanced DBS Check and social media checks will be carried out on shortlisted applicants. We place a high priority on safeguarding, promoting British values, encouraging community cohesion, and preventing extremism and radicalisation.
