We are looking for a dedicated and proactive Imaging Assistant to join our CT and MRI team at Newham University Hospital. This role is vital in supporting the efficient delivery of imaging services, ensuring excellent patient care, and assisting in the coordination of departmental activities. Working closely with radiographers, superintendents, and other healthcare professionals, you will contribute to the smooth running of daily operations in a fast-paced clinical environment.
The post holder is to participate in an extended working day covering 8:00 to 20:00 7 days per week.
Main duties of the job
1. Support the coordination and flow of CT/MRI inpatients, outpatients, and emergency cases to meet turnaround targets.
2. Assist with patient preparation, including IV cannulation setup after training, and offer support before, during, and after procedures.
3. The candidate must have completed formal cannulation training.
4. Communicate effectively with radiologists, radiographers, clinicians, and patients to support timely service delivery.
5. Book interpreters, manage DNAs, update patient information in RIS/PACS systems, and handle transport requests.
6. Provide front-line support to patients including reassurance, communication, and assisting with dressing/undressing for scans.
7. Maintain cleanliness, restock rooms, and manage equipment and supplies to meet clinical and infection control standards.
8. Help monitor patient flow and ensure rooms are clean and ready for use between appointments.
9. Contribute to a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment that upholds patient dignity, privacy, and rights.
10. Participate in ongoing training and personal development as required.
