Job objectives and responsibilities
To oversee the repair and maintenance of buildings across the region, which may include a combination of Commercial and Retail properties. Responsible for ensuring that the facilities and assets are in optimal condition and comply with all safety and regulatory standards as required. Leading a team of maintenance technicians and contractors who perform various tasks, such as electrical, plumbing, HVAC, etc.
Responsible for planning, coordinating the maintenance budget, schedule, and inventory, and reporting on the performance and quality of the maintenance operations supported by the Performance Assurance Managers.
Main duties
1. Supervise and direct the maintenance and repair of building assets across the region.
2. Hire, train, and evaluate the performance of maintenance technicians and contractors, providing guidance, feedback, and support.
3. Monitor and control the maintenance budget and inventory, ensuring efficient and cost-effective use of resources and materials.
4. Oversee planning and scheduling of maintenance and repair work via central planning teams, ensuring completion on time and according to specifications and standards.
5. Inspect and assess the condition and functionality of facilities and assets, identifying and prioritizing needs for maintenance and improvement.
6. Troubleshoot and resolve issues during maintenance and repair work, ensuring customer satisfaction and safety.
7. Communicate and collaborate with supervisors, regional and corporate managers, staff, vendors, regulators, and customers to ensure alignment and compliance with policies and objectives.
8. Stay updated with the latest technologies and best practices in maintenance and repair, implementing them as appropriate.
9. Liaise with contractors and suppliers as needed.
Person Specification
* Compliance with at least a Level 3 trade qualification minimum.
* Minimum 5 years post-trade qualification experience.
* At least 3 years in a similar role, preferably in a complex and dynamic retail and commercial office environment.
* Supervisory qualification and IOSH Supervising Safely certificate.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills; ability to motivate and inspire, and make timely, collaborative decisions.
* Strong knowledge of engineering principles and quality standards such as ISO9001, 14001, 22301, 27001, 45001, and 55001.
* Attention to detail and problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis.
* Intermediate skills in MS Office applications.
* Ability to prepare, present, and report to a high standard.
* Ability to work under pressure, handle multiple tasks, and prioritize effectively.
* Willingness to travel frequently to different regions and locations.
* Positive 'Can Do' attitude towards issue resolution.
* Takes accountability and responsibility for decisions and actions.
