Murphy is recruiting for a Senior Project Manager to work with Energy on the Norwich to Tilbury scheme, as part of the delivery of the Great Grid partnership (GGP). The project is currently mobilising project teams to support early works, including DCO support, ahead of site commencement in mid‑2027. The works are split between our regional office in Stone Cross (Warrington), with GGP support in Birmingham and a client office in Bury St Edmunds. Once the site is mobilised, the teams will be based on site in and around the Colchester and Braintree areas. Construction works are planned between mid‑2027 and mid‑2031.

Responsibilities
* Be fully accountable for project delivery, ensuring safety, timely completion, contractual compliance and budget adherence.
* Manage and coordinate overall project delivery, including multiple large‑scale disciplines.
* Set the overall standard for projects/contract.
* Identify, deliver and communicate project requirements.
* Identify issues and ensure they are resolved in a controlled and timely manner.
* Plan, review and deliver contract programmes.
* Line‑manage Project, Construction Site and Engineering Managers.
* Maintain effective client relationships, collaborate and provide progress updates to internal and external stakeholders.
* Ensure operating plans are in place to secure sufficient resources and materials.
* Resolve most operational issues; business‑critical items are referred to the Project Director.
* Handle all commercial activities associated with the project, including gross margin delivery, cost control and key commercial and financial metrics.
* Oversee performance management of subcontractors, covering gross margin, cost control and other key commercial metrics.
Qualifications
* Experience in delivering HV transmission & distribution or major civil projects.
* Experience in a Project Managerial role.
* HNC/HND or NVQ Level 5 (or degree).
* Experience working on complex multi‑discipline enhancement projects, delivering within programme and cost controls.
* Excellent stakeholder management skills, able to develop close working relationships with clients and subcontractors.
