Role Description

Large Volume Inorganic Chemical (LVIC) installations are required to use ‘Best Available Techniques’ (BAT) to reduce emissions to air, water and land. The UK BAT Author is responsible for drafting BAT Conclusions, liaising with Technical Working Groups, and presenting a final document suitable for publication as a new UK‑wide environmental standard for industry. You will work with incident management objectives in your development plan and may be required to travel and undertake overnight stays.

Key responsibilities:

* Draft BAT Conclusions and supporting technical documents.
* Liaise with Technical Working Groups.
* Present final documents for publication.
* Support an inclusive incident‑management objective and relevant training.
* Travel as required.
* Manage projects and drive completion.


Qualifications

You will have at least 5 years of working experience and a solid understanding of environmental regulation in the LVIC industry.

Required knowledge and skills:

* Specialist knowledge of the LVIC industry.
* Good understanding of process engineering and environmental issues.
* Good understanding of environmental legislation and policy in the UK.
* Critical analysis of technical arguments and data.
* Effective technical writing.
* Project management skills and drive to complete.
* Collecting and technically analysing complex industrial data.
* Understanding the implications of BAT Conclusions in permits, on industry and the environment.
* Verbal and written communication.
* Building and maintaining relationships.
* Planning, prioritising and organising tasks and resources.
* Responding flexibly to challenges and building consensus.
* Working with people from different backgrounds and cultures; encouraging diversity in work.
