Overview
The role of patient flow co-ordinator is to work closely with and support the nurse in charge of the Emergency Department. Your aim is to assist patient flow and streaming of patients through the department and to work towards maintaining departmental targets.
Responsibilities
* Assist registered nurses in complex discharges from the unit and coordinate transferring patients to the ward or other departments to continue care.
* Work with the multidisciplinary team (MDT) within the department to ensure patients are referred to a specialty in a timely manner.

An opportunity has arisen for a patient flow coordinator in the Emergency Department Team at Furness General Hospital. A shift system is in operation between the hours of 07:00 – 20:00 and you will be expected to work weekends.
Requirements
We are looking for enthusiastic, caring and motivated individuals with excellent communication skills. Ideally with acute/health care experience but this is not essential as training and support will be provided.

* Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI)
* Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal
* Community premises including Millom Hospital, GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, Ulverston Community Health Centre
Organisation context
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services. WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, for non-life threatening conditions. All three main hospitals provide planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery, and local outreach services and diagnostics from community facilities across Morecambe Bay. Our community services for adults are provided in people’s homes, community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals and our main hospitals, to help people remain independent, improve their health and manage conditions through high quality care, advice and support.
