Role
A leading engineering organisation is seeking an Engineering Design Manager (Mechanical) to lead the delivery of complex mechanical systems across a range of high-value, safety-critical projects. This is a key leadership role with responsibility for technical direction, team development, and design governance.
Responsibilities
* Lead and manage a team of up to 10 engineers
* Oversee engineering design from concept through to manufacture
* Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards
* Drive FEED and Design for Manufacture best practices
* Act as a senior technical authority in design reviews and risk assessments
* Collaborate with project teams and stakeholders to align design with delivery goals
* Identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement
What We\'re Looking For
* A strong academic background in Mechanical or General Engineering (MEng, MSc preferred)
* Chartered Engineer status, or actively working towards it
* Significant experience delivering bespoke engineering design projects, with a proven track record in leadership roles
* Deep understanding of high-integrity systems and working within regulated industries
* Hands-on experience with FEED, Design for Manufacture, and full lifecycle engineering
* A confident communicator and team leader, able to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels
* Must be eligible to obtain SC clearance within 6 months of joining
