The post holder will deliver clinical skills training to enable safe and effective practice for non/registered nursing staff. The post holder will work within the department to support the development of a competent workforce, to deliver a high quality, safe and compassionate health care service, and provide leadership and organisation.The post holder will actively promote and contribute to inter-professional learning activities and be an effective role model for best practice nursing. The post holder will identify and promote evidence-based nursing practice within the Emergency Department, through the implementation and facilitation of clinically based teaching / education, to ensure that staff are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles competently. Assess clinical competencies and maintain training records. Incorporate theoretical teaching, clinical skills assessment & formulation of personal development plans. Facilitate the professional development and education of all members of staff in a positive learning environment. The post holder will provide advice and guidance to other personnel, will undertake audits and assist with the development of professional policies, standards & best practice guidelines. The post holder will work 80% of their time clinically working with new starters and existing staff.
Main duties of the job
1. To work collaboratively with the Advanced Clinical Educator / Senior Practice Development Nurse in delivering clinical skills training and education programmes.
2. To implement research-based specialist guidelines / protocols, to enhance the nursing service provision & quality of nursing care
3. Liaise with Senior Sisters/Charge Nurses over performance of individual members of staff providing additional support, guidance and supervision as agreed.
4. Identify, plan and co-ordinate the educational and professional development requirements for students, new starters and existing members of staff within the emergency care division
5. To advance clinical knowledge and skills using approved learning and assessment procedures.
6. To facilitate the work of the Trust Nursing Strategy groups & Clinical Governance initiatives linking to emergency care. Member of Network Practice Educator group, ensuring cohesive work within our specialty.
7. To facilitate a culture where practice development can flourish.
8. Carry out any other reasonable duties commensurate with the role and delegated or requested by the manager or supervisor, as the needs of the service require.

Experience / Qualifications
Essential criteria
18. First level registered nurse with Nursing and Midwifery Council (UK)
19. Bachelor’s degree in nursing or equivalent
Desirable criteria
20. Completion of Level 1 Emergency Care Association Competencies.
